INTRODUCTION:

Metro Vancouver Pro League (MVPL) was founded on February 14th, 2022, on the vision of creating a league to showcase high performance field hockey at its best. The MVPL mission is to create an environment where hockey’s top players, coaches, managers, and umpires perform at elite levels while embodying sport’s most important guiding principles - diversity, sportsmanship, integrity, and respect for the game. Diversity always wins. 

SERIES STRUCTURE:

The MVPL is based on the philosophy that diversity promotes growth opportunities for top tier athletes, and builds stronger ties within the wider sporting community by intermixing traditional club-based rosters. Each series will feature teams composed of a fresh mix of athletes from a cross section of clubs, brought together by a rotating draft system. Four head coaches will select athletes from a pool of players with each team consisting of the most equitable distribution of active national team players and mixture of club players as possible. A series could be played in a league structure or as a tournament format.
